How To Find A Nursing Job - 8 Tips To Take Some Of The Headache Out Of Your Search

Monday, July 30th, 2007

By Laura Adams Do you have your nursing degree and are ready to take the medical industry by storm? Are you an experienced nurse looking for an exciting new challenge? Regardless of the level of your nursing experience, looking for a new job can be a time-consuming and frequently frustrating process. A big part of the job search process is knowing where to look for nursing positions. The following tips and tricks are designed to take some of the headache out of your search, by giving you some guidelines on steps you can take to land your ideal nursing position. 1. Visit the recruiting departments of local hospitals, medical centers, and doctors offices to inquire about available positions. If there are no current vacancies, ask if you can submit your resume to remain on file should future openings match what you are seeking. 2. Contact recruitment and contract employment agencies. Aligning yourself with a recruiter can give you access to jobs that are often not advertised to the public. The great thing about recruiting agencies is that allow you to apply for positions at multiple companies simultaneously with a single resume submittal, since most recruiters will shop your resume around to all of the available openings. 3. Use the internet to your advantage. Searching for nurse or nursing on major job boards such as Monster.com and Hotjobs.com will unearth hundreds of available openings just be aware that competition for these positions is stiff since hundreds of other nurses are looking at and applying for the exact same jobs. 4. Dont be adverse to accepting a contract or training position. This are often a great way to get you foot in the door in the medical profession. It also gives you a chance to evaluate an organization and department to ensure it is a match before fully committing yourself to a long-term full-time position. 5. Colleges and universities that offer nursing degrees often have a database of available positions in the schools Career Center. Career Center advisors are also excellent sources of information on how to network in the industry and get your foot in the door. Many schools limit Career Center resource access to current students or alumni, though, so you may be limited to your Alma Matar. 6. Network, network, network! Let friends, family, and casual acquaintances know that you are on the market for a new position. Since most companies are much more willing to interview (and potentially hire) candidates who have already been vouched for, its important to get the word out that you are available and seeking a new opportunity. 7. Dont forgot to investigate often-overlooked nursing avenues such as: o School nurses (contact the local School Board for openings) o Health Department Openings (both local/county and state offices) o Health insurance companies o Assisted living facilities and retirement homes o Universities and colleges seeking teachers for nursing school programs o Mentorship programs o Traveling nurse programs that place you on short assignments at different locations around the country 8. Searching nursing-specific job boards for available opportunities is a great way to target only those jobs that require your degree and background. For example, internet sites http://www.NursingJobs.org and http://www.NurseOptions.com offer free access to a wide range of nursing positions nationwide. There are many other excellent on-line resources for nursing job information. Laura Adams is a qualified careers advisor with 11 years experience. Don’t Say Sorry To An Atheist Just Tell Them Your Testimony Who Can Argue With That?

Sunday, July 29th, 2007

By Yianni Georginis I am not into Christian apologetics and I will never say sorry for Jesus Dying on the cross for you and me! You know many people say I am a Christian but down the line they are suckers and wont go to heaven if they keep up sinning in front of you and God!But this is not the reason I am writing this! I will tell you when I left God out in the cold at my wedding bliss called lust! I was saved firstly in 1983 just after Christmas and this was the best gift someone has ever given me called salvation! But I turned God away like a lost puppy that I promised to look after and keep! I was a troubled youth back then but God could not love heaven in me so he scared the hell out of me! I was saved but then I found out the inns and out of lusting after women! I was faced with hiding it with a good old Christian wedding and then go do the sinning latter on that night! And for the whole duration of lust! I am sorry to the woman that I married and wish the best to her where ever she is. I will tell you our lust lasted for only a year but while we were doing the sin we did not care who we hurt even if it were God! I remember saying to my wife, If God calls me back to him I need to go with or without you!It all started with me saying I want to go back to God with or with out you! That is when all hell broke loose and we had been lovers but now we were enemies! But God wanted me more than I wanted him and he made sure that Satan did not have his way! I went to get marriage counseling and changed for the better if this marriage was to work and if it was from God in which it was not! As on my wedding day when the minister asked if I was to marry my loved one and God said no I said yes and it was the biggest mistake I have ever made!As I basically said go get stuffed God and I want to have this sexy woman as she turns me on! Well she did but she now turns me off how is that if she was the one that I loved? I will tell you lust has its used by date! Love is forever! God is the one that is Love and he is the creator of true love and I want to know that Love any day! Any way I will not ramble on and I want to show you that God is a big ball of light and a big heart too! You know God is like a child He cant ever not love us and He trusts us even when we fall flat He gives us back what we are destroying out selves with! Until we are ready to let it go! He knows that it will end well if we submit to God resist the Devil and He will flee!Where else has he to go? I want to say a kind thank you for listening but what is it with you that you want to read this email me later and tell me about it.I want to keep on going as I will tell you that I am saved by God and covered with the blood of Jesus of Calvary! And I had my wife personally say that she does not want me anymore in one way it is a big relief and a blessing! Now I know I was separated by God and for God and it feels great to know that and live it daily!I was in a bath before that with an electric heater and ready to kill my self and was in the process of doing so!As the heater was on and only ten or so centre meters away from the water Jesus called out no I died for you! If this is a testimony why it is full off bad stuff you might be thinking but the bad accentuates the good! God is good!I just said as I pulled the heater and threw it out of the bath area and said God I cant live you got to make me live ! I was desperate and needed help and He came and delivered and I went back to my church all broken but ashamed and said God if you want to you can make me a hired hand I dont deserve to be called you son any more but He called the servants and put a clothes on me and gave me a ring and had a feast for me and man it was good! And God did make me His son and put me back into all my ministries and I am veryHappy that He did He delivered me and made me one of the leaders at church and put me in a place of honor I never knew how my father felt about me until his other sons said how he felt! I am His treasure and so are you!You are the main reason that I write its not to make me feel good or how many people write comments about me or give me five stars its ok if you give God ten stars and me none it will do me fine and good dear one! I have many more stories and teaching to tell you but I am only one man! Good bye for now and may God bless you and yes I am single again but this time I am waiting for the right one and it has been ten years now and maybe I will be single but married to the Lord Jesus Christ and I am loving it! Adding Scent and Color When Making Candles

Thursday, July 26th, 2007

By Corinne Waldon You have total control over how your candles look and smell. You have a myriad of choices for adding your own colors and scents to produce a candle which is individually yours. Craft shops and candle making suppliers stock scents and dyes made specifically for home-made candles from many different materials, but be sure you know what is flammable when adding things to wax. Adding scents Only add scent to the hot wax after it has been taken away from the heat source. Check for flammability of the scent at a low temperature before adding any essential oils to prevent a dangerous situation. Many of the cheaply made candles you find in discount stores will not use scent added to all the wax, instead topping off the candle at the end with scent added after the bulk of the candle has cooled. If you want a really good quality of scent, add the oils to all the wax you are using when the wax has completely melted. The choice for scent is yours, but some natural scents are stronger than others. Vanilla essence, makes for a strong vanilla scent and is typically the most commonly used fragrance in home candle making. Combinations of other scents can be used to create specialty scents– popular recipes include holiday fragrances pine scent with cinnamon added, or rose cream rose essential oil with vanilla added. You will only need a small amount of scent around half a teaspoon will produce a good clear scent. Where will you be placing your candle? Do you wish a zingy scent for the kitchen? Citrus scents such as orange or lemon are best for this. For an aromatherapy experience, use lavender and geranium, or lilac. For a bedroom candle, use rose oil for sensuality, or eucalyptus for soothing a cold but remember to never leave a candle burning if you are in danger of falling asleep this could lead to a serious risk of house fire. Adding Color You can purchase dye chips at your craft store or candle making supplier. Add a little at a time because you can always add more later but take into consideration that wax changes color as it cools and hardens. Test a small amount of wax on a non-flammable surface to ensure you are getting the shade that you want. You can also add color using liquid dyes, which are simpler and can be dropped into the molten wax with an eye-dropper. Add these once youve poured the candle, and try experimenting with different dyes and cooling times– they can give a wonderful rainbow effect. When adding scent and color, have fun matching the fragrance with the appropriate colors. Corinne Waldon writes articles for Candles-24, a comprehensive candle website. Communication Breakdown - Don’t Let It Happen To You

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

By Carmel Baird Do you have Communication breakdown? How are you communicating with your contacts? We need: Contacts we can send emails to regarding our businessopportunities. Contacts we can build up a good working relationship with, similar interests as far as business opportunities go. Contacts we can share how we are going with our businessopportunities. Contacts we can trust to be honest with us about what, how, when and why, as we operate our business and opportunities. Contacts we can become friends with, even though we are onother sides of the world and may never meet but can be openwith each other like good friends are. With all these contacts there is one common factor—COMMUNICATION. yes that’s right communicating witheach other. I have been amazed how much one can gauge by sending emailsand receiving emails in return. A lot can come through inthe written word. Mostly I don’t think we even realise howmuch of our personalities we show when we send an email. Of course so many emails we receive, are not written by thesender, they are written by an experienced copywritter. There are also many operating online for years and years whohave never written an email using their own words yet they sendemails daily to our inboxes. They do this very well. so have never even thought tocompose a message to their contact list, this is a shame. Itis a shame because they have never given their contacts a chanceto get to know them. The same thing goes for their contacts. Some of my contactshave never sent me an email about anything, I may beinterested in their opportunities and may like to offer themto my contacts. So you see, communication is a huge part of this InternetMarketing. It is advertising, but more importantly it iscommunciation and communicating with each other. The trust we build when we communicate helps with our everyday life on the Internet. So let You show and let others get to Know You. I have found it hard not to write the way I was taught inschool, Sister Mary Hitemharder gave me a good grounding inEnglish writing and old habits are hard to break, but I amlearning. Because we are not face to face, it is best towrite as though you are talking to the person. Less formaland not intimidating and the more you do it the easier itbecomes. Some people seem to have the knack, but if you talk to themthey have worked hard to achieve the easy style. So start tapping at those keys and put your own words upthere on the screen and let others get to know you. Put yourpersonality out there and you will be surprised at therewards you will receive. I remember one email I received very early in my onlineactivities. I didn’t act on this offer straight away, letthe email sit there for a day or so. It had one of thosesections at the bottom for the earnings of the sender. Imust admit they looked very good. So I was considering this very seriously and being very new to it all, was a little cautious. A couple of days later the same subject line appears in mymail box but the sender is different and guess what? Thesetwo people had earned exactly the same amount of money onexactly the same days. I thought that amazing, what anenormous coincidence. Now really!!!! This is what I mean about writing in your own words. Itwould have been better for both these people to write thatit is possible to earn good money with this program and not take someone’s earnings as their own. Needless to say those offers I wouldn’t waste any time on,just press the ‘D’ key and, away they go, to theDump folder. Do yourself a favour and write to your lists, let it beyou. I for one will look forward to reading your mail. So how are your contacts going? Do you know? Take theplunge, write and find out. Communicate, don’t havecommunication breakdown. Second Interview: What Happens After The First Interview?

Monday, July 16th, 2007

By Carl Mueller Getting a second interview is typically your goal when you attend a first interview. Unless the job you’re applying for has a one-interview process to be followed by a job offer to the successful candidate, you will most likely be trying to get invited back for a second interview. For more senior positions you might even come back for a third and subsequent interviews. Sometimes companies have processes in place that result in multiple interviews for potential employees. What actually happens in the second interview of course largely depends on what happened in the first interview. Often, the first interview is a Human Resources (HR) interview. This is when you get interviewed by a member of HR to determine whether or not you are someone who would fit with their company. The HR interview might focus on what some job searchers often sarcastically refer to as “touchy-feely” questions but don’t treat this interview as a joke. You might be surprised at the power that HR wield in some companies. I’ve seen some HR staff turn down job candidates even when the hiring manager liked them. Also, don’t expect to be able to go into the HR interview and “wing it.” In other words, make sure you prepare for this interview as you would any other interview. If your first interview was with the hiring manager, the second interview might be a more in depth discussion with the same hiring manager and/or you might meet up with one of their peers (ie. another manager) or perhaps you’ll meet up with people you’d be working with should you get the job. In this case, the questions you face tend to be more in depth than before. At this point, the company has shown interest in you so they will want to gain more information about you and your suitability for the job. You also need to gain more knowledge about the company and the people you’d be working with. Some companies might hold a panel second interview where you get interviewed by several people at once. I’ve experienced this several times myself. When you’re leaving the first interview try to get a sense as to what the next step in the process is. If you find out that you have been invited to a second interview try to find out who you’ll be meeting with and what each person does. This will help you get a better sense of what the second interview will entail and what you will need to prepare for. An Organised Weight Loss Program That Works Wonders

Saturday, July 14th, 2007

By Paul Newland Step 1 Read as much as you can about healthy eating. You will need to educate yourself on healthy food choices and the importance of consuming fresh food. Step 2 Write down everything you eat in a week no cheating this is for your eyes only. Once this is done, start crossing out the bad foods (fried food, margarine, cakes, biscuits, ice cream, sugar, fast foods, coffee) and leave the good foods (meat, fish, chicken, eggs, fruit, vegetables, grain, and complex carbohydrates). Step 3 Now empty your cupboards and fridge of all of these bad foods soft drinks, margarine, refined flour and sugary foods like biscuits and cakes and replace with healthy alternatives fruit and vegetables, plenty of meat, eggs, soy milk, canned fish, dried fruit, nuts (not coked), high fiber foods such as oats. Whey protein powders are also a great idea and can be mixed with fruit, ice and either water or milk. The emphasis is on HEALTHY, not low fat. Concentrate on foods with natural ingredients. Throw out and dont buy anything with the words hydrogenated oil/fat on the label. Try not to include too much wheat and dairy these are the foods most likely to cause allergies. Step 4 - Invest in a good quality water filter (ideally one that filters out fluoride) so you always have plenty of fresh, clean water available. Every time you go to open the fridge have a glass of water. Because most of our water comes from food, our trips to the fridge are often a search for water rather than food so make an effort to drink lots of water. Step 5 Take a sheet of paper and divide it into five in the first fifth write breakfast, in the next write morning meal, then lunch, followed by afternoon meal and finally dinner. Now you have a weight loss program outline. Step 6 Start your weight loss program by writing out an eating plan for each of the five sections using the rules of eating breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper. You can write in anything into each of the sections as long as you write in good, high protein, low carbohydrate foods. Useful tips for the main meals of breakfast and lunch: two eggs a day wont change your cholesterol level, chicken with the skin is OK; eat your meat medium rare (turkey breast is an excellent low fat high protein meat); eat fish as much as possible - about 3 times per week; as many vegetables and salads as you like (avoid potatoes and starchy vegetables, and avoid salad dressings) preferably steamed; only three to four serves of fruit per day because of the sugar) Useful tips for the in-between meals: soups, salads, eggs, smoked salmon and fish, cottage cheese, olives, pickled vegetables, fruit, protein shakes (especially those with extra fibre, a good source of protein such as whey, vitamins and minerals), meat, fish and chicken, butter is fine. If you cant avoid a slice of bread, make sure you have brown bread, full of grain and fibre and keep the quantity down to one slice per day. Remember to take your supplements as part of your weight loss program - preferably all 90 essential nutrients and have an extra dose of liquid minerals ready if you get hunger pangs. For maximum effectiveness take your supplements with each meal and spread the dose over the whole day. The addition of a supplement containing Chromium helps control blood sugar and reduces hunger, sweet cravings, and the carbohydrate highs and lows. Special treats: Life is too short to go without all the naughty things and everyone has their weaknessso allow yourself to have some ‘favourite food’ every now and then and look for more suitable alternatives . . . for example: 1. Sorbet or frozen fruit instead of ice cream 2. Wine instead of spirits (merlot and pinot noir are highest in antioxidants!) - maximum one glass per day; 3. Herbal teas, green tea or white tea instead of coffee limit yourself to one cup of coffee a day or every other day if you really cant do without it! 4. A delicious piece of fruit on its own or in a low fat protein shake instead of a bar of chocolate. You can also search around for health bars high in protein, low in sugar and with a selection of vitamins and minerals. Be creative! After a while you won’t be craving the ‘bad’ things anyway. Step 7 EARN YOUR FOOD! Remember this statement and you WILL lose weight. If you plan some type of activity BEFORE your meal you will reap the benefits and become more in tune with your body even walking to the supermarket or up some stairs counts. The more you burn in activity, the more you can eat. Put exercise sessions before meals into your weight loss program as much as you can to fit in with your lifestyle. Step 8 Set some time aside each day 5 to 10 minutes is fine sit quietly, empty your mind and then when all is calm, visualize your ideal weight and shape and feel gratitude that you have already achieved your goal by using your weight loss program. Write out a positive statement about your ideal weight and shape and say it when you first wakeup in the morning and before retiring in the evening. This is a little trick for the subconscious and it will help your weight loss program as well as helping you have a great positive outlook! Step 9 - Make this program part of your long-term lifestyle your body will adapt and will find its own perfect weight and shape.
